Gunman shot senior journalist Absar Alam in Islamabad

Senior journalist and former chairman of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Absar Alam was shot in Islamabad yesterday.

Alam was shot in the stomach but now his condition is out of the danger, police officials said.

The incident happened when the journalist was on a routine walk in a park situated in the capital’s F-11 area when unknown person attacked him, police told media persons.

Later to the incident, a video of Alam spread all around the social media where he narrated about the attack:

In the video, journalist can be heard saying he was walking outside his home when he was “shot by someone”.

“My message to those who shot me: I will not be intimidated,” Alam adds.

Federal Interior Minister, Sheikh Rasheed immediately took the notice of the incident and ordered IGP Islamabad to initiate an inquiry.

Also, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry condemned the incident and wrote on Twitter:
