Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Thursday that banks in the country are not habitual of disbursing loans to people without influence.
PM Imran Khan made these remarks while speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of housing project Farash Town apartments in Islamabad which are expected to be completed within the next two years.
The prime minister said that “People still face many hindrances when they approach banks for small or medium sized loans with an intent to make a house.”
“The process of negotiations is still continuing between the government and the banks”, premier told the audience.
Moreover, during the ceremony, PM Khan praised the efforts and hard work of military engineering group Frontier Works Organisation’s (FWO) work on the housing project, mentioning FWO’s contribution in completing infrastructure work at Kartarpur Corridor in “record time”.
Referring to gigantic slums (katchi abadis), PM Khan said that with every passing days these areas are rising fast just because of the reason that people cannot afford their own house.
“Nobody has ever thought of the people living in slums, around 40% of Karachi is covered in slum area”, PM added and hoped that time will come in near future when all the slum dwellers will own their house.
