Karachi Police gears up for roller skates to combat street crimes

KARACHI: With an intent to eliminate street crimes in the city, Karachi Police yesterday announced to launch a skater police force, comprising of 20 police personnel on skates initially.

This step is taken to maximize the patrolling activities by apprehending the culprits mostly on narrow streets where police vehicles can’t reach.

While speaking to the media persons, Special Investigations Unit Commandant Dr Farrukh Ali Lanjhar said he hopes that this patrolling will prove to be fruitful force in exterminating the street crimes.

Another senior officer of the police told this scribe that with the help of roller skates criminals who are habitual of robbing people at traffic signals or during jams will be easily arrested and the cops are fully prepared to hit their target after undergoing through an extensive training.

The personnel on skaters will come under the Special Security Unit, police official added.

Well, this new initiative of the Karachi police seems to be quite interesting in apprehending the criminals and reducing the street crimes as already the infrastructure of the city is dilapidated at many places.

A big challenge for the cops now starting finally.
