Sindh minister Murtaza Baloch dies of COVID-19

KARACHI: Provincial Minister of Sindh for Human Settlement Haji Ghulam Murtaza Baloch passed away yesterday after fighting with novel coronavirus.

Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab on his official Twitter handle confirmed the news of Baloch’s death where he wrote:

“Haji Ghulam Murtaza Baloch, our colleague in Sindh cabinet had passed away today. He was suffering from COVID-19.”

“He was a genuine political worker & a very polite and humble human being. May Allah SWT bless his soul,” Wahab added in his tweet.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah have also expressed grief on the death of the party’s Malir district president and condoled with the family of the slain.

The Twitter handle of Sindh government posted the Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah’s condolences where he called the deceased a a brave leader.

Balcoh had contracted the virus during relief activities in his hometown on May 14 and requested for the prayers for a speedy recovery.

The minister was elected to the Sindh Assembly from PS-88 Malir-II in July 2018 elections.

It must be mentioned here that Baloch is the second legislator in Pakistan who have died from COVID-19 after Shaheen Raza of PTI in Punjab Assembly, who succumbed to coronavirus last month.
