One of the most used ride-hailing service of Pakistan, Careem, has launched a “safety button” which will not only allow customers to use its trust and safety features, but will also enable them to contact law enforcement authorities in case of emergencies.
Pakistan is among the first country out of the entire Middle-East and North Africa (MENA) region to receive this feature where customers will be made able to authorities through the application.
Available at the right-hand corner of the app, the safety button appears as soon as the ride begins and redirects to the toolkit. Customers can use the toolkit for safety-related information and can also connect with the Careem care service where they can have a live-chat or can call the authorities in case of any emergency.
Careem’s safety feature also allows customers to share the ride with their friends and family from the pick-up point till the drop-off, in addition to insuring customers and drivers.
In order to ensure provision of maximum safety to its customers, Careem employees captains after elaborate screening and then trains them to provide quality service to passengers.
Remarking on the latest safety feature of the app, Country General Manager Careem Pakistan, Zeeshan Hasib Baig, said, “Our new safety features within the app are much easier for customers to contact us or the authorities and get access to all safety-related information at the click of a button.
Ensuring safety is a collective responsibility and we believe both customers and captains have a critical role to play in making our rides and our communities safer.”
Along with the safety of customers, the application has also attempted to ensure safety of its captains by installing an “alert button” within its captains’ application version.
