The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of one of the Pakistan’s largest media group Hameed Haroon on Wednesday filed a case in the Sindh High Court (SHC) against filmmaker Jamshed Mahmood on account of defamation against him.
Hameed Haroon in his petition filed today had given all details of allegations put on him by the film maker Jami and had urged the court to “perpetually restrain Jami, through himself or by instigating others, from making such defamatory statements” against the chief executive of the media group.
It must be mentioned here that Haroon in his petition had also asked the court to direct Jami to “permanently erase all the defamatory statements” from his social media account.
On the other hand, Dawn CEO had also demanded that film maker should pay Rs1 billion that “to be disbursed to any charitable organisation or for any noble cause that the court deems appropriate”.
A well-known film maker Jami last year in October alleged that he was sexually harassed by a “media tycoon” 13 years ago. Then, on December 28, Jami unearthed the name of the assaulter who was CEO Dawn Hameed Haroon as per his allegations.
Subsequent to the allegations of Jami, Haroon categorically rejected and termed it false and malicious and added that he would soon go for a due legal action against the film maker.
