Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry, while talking to media during an event in Lahore on Friday stated that Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) functions on pubic tax, and therefore, it is entitled to report its performance to the taxpayers.
He further commended opposition’s responsible attitude towards Army Act and reported that there is a progressive discussion going on regarding the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Ordinance.
In response to a question, Chaudhry commented that the former Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif’s health is not a matter of concern, however, there are chances that Shahbaz Sharif’s health may deteriorate if he is asked to come back to Pakistan.
He also added that there are rumors of a rift within PML-N and the party has asked Khawaja Asif to not attend party meetings.
With reference to his concerns towards CII, the minister tweeted on Thursday that the Council must be restructured in line with modern requirements. While criticizing the Council’s performance, his tweet read, “It is beyond my understanding to spend crores of rupees on such an institution.”
He also added, “The council needs to be restructured and more scholarly people should handle this institution”.
