Few days ago armed men entered the Jawaharlal Nehru University and attacked the students and teachers. Following the event Bollywood’s actress Deepika Padukone visited the campus to show her solidarity with the students.
Deepika was in Delhi for promotions of her new movie Chhapaak when she headed down to the protest against the attack herself which was happening outside the university’s campus and also offered her condolences to the President of the Jawaharlal Nehru Students Association Aishe Ghosh.
Her visit received mixed reactions from the people on the social media where some called for a boycott of her film while others, mainly the Bollywood peeps, praised her brave move.
The visit gained praise and positive response from the film fraternity where many actors and directors, namely; Sonakshi Sinha, Sonam Kapoor, Mahesh Butt and others praised her move to show her support just two days before the release of her film.

As producer today @deepikapadukone would’ve been standing in the preview theatres in Mumbai waiting to hear praise being showered on her maiden production. She instead chose to stand in solidarity with #JNUstudents knowing fully well the ramifications of her actions. #RESPECT
