WhatsApp: PTA takes up the hacking issue with Facebook management

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) revealed on Friday that in the light of the media reports, the matter related to the hacking and targeting of WhatsApp users account in Pakistan has been taken up with the the Facebook management as the app is owned by it.

It must be mentioned here that through a software of hacking, the data and accounts of many users on WhatsApp faced an issue of hacking not only in Pakistan but all around the globe.

The official Twitter handle of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) says:

“With reference to media reports regarding WhatsApp users being targeted worldwide including users from Pakistan with a hacking software, PTA has taken up the matter with WhatsApp,” read the authority’s press release.

The PTA also added in its tweet that “The telecommunication authority has not only taken up the matter with WhatsApp management but also had asked for remedial measures to prevent any such hacking attempt in future.”

The press statement of PTA also advised the public to upgrade the WhatsApp application to latest version and keep the device Operating System up to date in order to avoid such incidents.

Moreover, all the affected individuals are requested to contact PTA at content-complaint@pta.gov.pk,” as stated by the authority.
