KARACHI: Rotary Club of Karachi – Platinum celebrated its second anniversary at a local hotel yesterday night followed by a fellowship dinner.
Director General Anti-Narcotics Force Sindh Brigadier Mansoor Janjua was the chief guest on the occasion and Principal Bahria College Karachi, Captain Arshad Mohydin was the guest of honor.
Speaking at the event, DG ANF Mansoor Janjua congratulated all the Rotarians on their 2nd anniversary and offered his full support to the Karachi Rotary Club for the welfare work.
DG ANF also apprised the audience that last month United Nations office of the Drug Control has acknowledged the efforts of both the country and ANF for taking all possible measures in getting control of the menace of drug addiction.
“More than 150 drug peddlers have been apprehended last month while we strongly believes in bringing maximum reduction in drugs supply,” Janjua said.
“It is not only the responsibility of the law enforcement agencies to get rid of this menace of drugs addiction but on a larger part it is also the collective efforts of parents, educational institutions to create awareness about this bad habit among children and youth,” DG ANF added.
Speaking at the fellowship dinner, President Rotary Club, Rizwan Adhia said that internationally, the Rotary Clubs plays a vital role in all the welfare services to the people as around 1.2 million members of Rotary are present globally.
Adhia also said that the capacity of our club is growing faster and the level of membership is also increasing with every passing day.
Highlighting various projects undertaken by the Karachi Rotary Club, Rizwan said that we have started a joint venture at CPLC Hyderabad in collaboration with Dr Farhan Essa where 800 police officials went through a screening test, blood testing, eye testing and provision of glasses.
He also added that in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s initiative of making Pakistan ‘Clean & Green’, Rotary Club Karachi carried out several plantation campaigns in different Embassies and other organizations.
Moreover, our Rotary also assisted the city government where we have provided few loaders / trucks to District Central Karachi for picking up the garbage and to facilitate the plantation campaigns, Rizwan said further.
People from the business community, journalism, industrialists, government officials were present in attendance.
Later, as a token of appreciation, the shields were presented by the chief guests to the members for their contribution and sincerity to the club for providing maximum welfare services to the people.
